From Gisela Goodhew...
Hi, Guys I’d like to share just some of our posed pics from our tour down to PMB where we did the Amashova 106km race from PMB to DBN on Sunday 18 Oct. The “show stopper” Liz talks about in the e mail below just reflects on a very, very stressful day had by all. Jan (a vet!) and I even had to stitch a guy up after a particularly nasty fall. Fortunately no fractures. Looking at the pics: The one on the right was day one wearing our Jolly Roger shirts. Day two was pink. Mike was rather upset that I bought and dressed him up in a pink cycling top. The middle photo, day three shows the group in our very beautiful, character loaded Ultra Dog tops. My main complaint was that they did not issue the female version! J Should you have a problem identifying me among all these alien looking creatures wearing lycra, sunglasses and helmets – I am the kortgat! As soon as I have some more pics, like “Gisela Time Trialing” I will entertain you on some of those. BTW – a couple of us maergatte got nick names such as “lollipop” and “mushroom”. Maybe has something to do with the skinny bod and the big helmet on top. All and all an incredible, character building experience reminding one of exactly where a bicycle saddle can cause the most damage. OOOOPPPSSS!!! TMI!
From Liz...
Now that we are all back after the Amashova and facing the obscene realities of what Gauteng has to offer, Escape Cycle Tours, would like to take this opportunity of thanking all those who embarked on the 4 day tour!!! Firstly, we would like to thank Mills for his support and generosity in helping absolutely anyone that needed help of any kind. How on Earth does one go through 6 tubes - despite the fact that Mills himself, never had a puncture??? Saturday proved to be a "show stopper”!! Fatigue, electrolytes, accident, sugar levels, sun, rain, heat, cold, thirst, trucks.........hell, what else ?? All of the above mentioned, must surely have had something to do with our "wiring to short circuit" as we approached the day's end. A big thanks to Jan once again for organising the "ULTRA DOG" shirt. Had it not been for Mills, Gordon and Barry, none of us would have recorded the times that we did in the actual race. Yes, we don't mind highlighting that fact; because it's true!! Many thanks to the threesome for the awesome ride. Escape Cycle Tours has learned valuable lessons this year, which will be carried forward to future tours. It is really you guys that have afforded us this learning curve, for that, the two of us would like to thank you all most sincerely. Please see attached some pics, we will be sending you all more. Good luck for 94.7 & safe cycling. Chris & Liz
